10 min totaal 2 porties 205 kcal p.p. 26 g protein

Cheese and ham rolls with gherkin are a nostalgic party classic without any fuss. A slice of lean cheese and a slice of back ham are rolled with a thin layer of mustard around a crispy gherkin strip, creating a savoury bite with a fresh, salty crunch. Quick to make and always a trusted success on the party table.

Within Phase 1 of a protein diet, these rolls are an excellent choice, as the combination of lean cheese and back ham delivers a good amount of protein with hardly any carbohydrates. That protein supports your muscles and keeps you satisfied for longer, so during the party you won't quickly reach for carb-rich snacks. The gherkin adds flavour and freshness without compromising that low-carb balance, making this an ideal protein-rich bite for this phase.

Lovely with a few cherry tomatoes, some radish or a handful of olives alongside for a complete party platter. Also handy as a protein-rich snack on the go or with lunch.

Zo maak je het

  1. Lay a slice of cheese down and place a slice of ham on top.
  2. Spread a thin layer of mustard on the ham.
  3. Place a strip of gherkin along the edge and sprinkle with pepper.
  4. Roll firmly and secure with a cocktail stick.
  5. Cut each roll in half if you like.

Bewaren

Keep the rolls covered in the refrigerator and eat within two days. Hold them in place with a stick so they don't unroll whilst storing.

Variatietips

Replace the gherkin with a strip of pepper or a spring onion for a milder flavour. A layer of light herbed cream cheese instead of mustard makes the rolls just that bit creamier.
