Wholegrain pitta with spiced beef mince

Balanced Phase 4 pitta with lean beef mince, fresh yoghurt sauce and crunchy vegetables.

22 min totaal 2 porties 520 kcal p.p. 38 g protein

Wholegrain pitta with spiced beef mince is a familiar, flavourful meal that belongs in the relaxed maintenance phase. Warm spiced mince with cumin and paprika powder fills a toasted wholegrain pitta, along with crunchy lettuce, fresh cucumber and a creamy garlic yoghurt sauce. Simple, hearty and always a winner on the table.

In Phase 4, this is a nicely balanced dish because the lean beef mince delivers generous protein while the wholegrain pitta provides responsible, slow-release carbohydrates. So this remains a protein-rich dish that fits well within a protein diet and maintains the balance. The protein and wholegrain fibres keep you pleasantly satisfied without feeling heavy.

Lovely with a spoonful of hummus or some pickled red onion alongside for a fresh, spicy addition to the pitta.

Zo maak je het

  1. Fry the beef mince until crumbly with cumin and paprika.
  2. Mix the yoghurt with the pressed garlic, salt and pepper.
  3. Toast the pitta breads briefly and cut them open.
  4. Fill the pitta with salad and cucumber.
  5. Spoon in the mince and drizzle the yoghurt sauce over.
  6. Serve at once, lovely and warm.

Bewaren

Keep the mince and sauce separate in the fridge for up to two days and fill the pitta fresh. Simply warm the mince again in the pan.

Variatietips

Try swapping the beef mince for chicken or lamb mince. A handful of fresh mint or a spoonful of tahini through the yoghurt sauce gives it a Mediterranean twist.
